THE SCIENTOLOGY MEMBERSHIP ASSOCIATION

Theology & Practice of a Contemporary Religion - Scientology

Pledge to Mankind
In October 1984, Scientologists from many countries met at Saint Hill in England and formed the International Association of Scientologists. They signed the Pledge to Mankind, dedicating themselves to achieving the aims of Scientology—"A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights, are the aims of Scientology.”

The International Association of Scientologists (“IAS”) is the international membership organization for Scientologists. It is composed of individuals, churches of Scientology and national associations of Scientology. The IAS, through its own activities and that of its members, embodies the concept of an international religious community.

The purpose of the IAS is to unite, advance, support and protect the Scientology religion in all parts of the world so the Aims of Scientology can be achieved. It also supports churches of Scientology and individual Scientologists who have undertaken special projects to improve their communities or the world in general, particularly projects that further religious freedom. The IAS ensures that the religion is adequately defended and protected so that Scientologists everywhere can carry forth and achieve their mission of spiritual salvation. The IAS unites Scientologists around the world in activities that promote Scientology’s aims, bringing freedom and hope to the peoples of earth.
